Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], September 17 (ANI): Maharashtra Chief Minister on Tuesday said that 12 lakh people participated in Ganesh Visarjan at Girgaon Chowpatty in Mumbai on the occasion of Ananta Chaturdashi, last day of the ten-day-long Ganesh Chaturthi.
“Nearly 12 lakh people are present here at Girgaon Chowpatty. Thousands of Ganpati idols are being brought here for immersion. Ganeshotsav is the biggest festival of Maharashtra and people celebrate it despite their social status,” Shinde said.
Shinde also offered prayers to Lord Ganesha at his residence.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal also attended Ganpati Visarjan in Malad.
Meanwhile in Hyderabad, Telangana, thousands of devotees participated in Ganpati Visarjan procession.
Ganesh Chaturthi festival commenced on September 7 and concluded on Anantha Chaturdashi. This festival is also known as Vinayak Chaturthi or Vinayak Chavithi. During Ganesh Chaturthi, Lord Ganesha is worshipped as the god of new beginnings and the remover of obstacles.
Devotees across India and abroad celebrate Lord Ganesha’s wisdom and intelligence.
