Chhindwara (Madhya Pradesh) [India], April 2 (ANI): As the first phase of Lok Sabha elections are round the corner, Congress candidate from Chhindwara parliamentary seat Nakul Nath’s wife Priya Nath also landed in the fray and held an election campaign in support of her husband.
She participated in the Congress workers meeting in Chourai assembly constituency in the district on Monday and said that they were not afraid and their real strength is the people of Chhindwara.
“None of us will ever lose courage. My family members, my brothers and sisters told me not to be afraid at all. I tell them, is there any fear on my face? I am not afraid at all. I definitely feel sad, when I see father Kamal Nath ji, I feel sad. Those whom (referring to people who left Congress and joined BJP) we considered as our own, whom we always loved like our family, Kamal Nath ji gave his blessings, betrayed us when the time of their ordeal came. So it definitely felt sad because we had accepted them wholeheartedly,” Priya Nath said.
She further said that they were with the people of Chhindwara for the last 44 years and no power has arisen which could end this relationship in 44 days.
“There is no fear at all because our real strength and power is present here. I have come to raise your voice and make you realise that we will move forward with a new revolution. We were together for 44 years, we are and no power has arisen which can end this relationship in 44 days,” She added.
Meanwhile, a close aide of Kamal Nath and the one who recently joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Syed Jafar said that no one betrayed Kamal Nath and the future of Chhindwara was not safe in the hands of Nakul Nath, that is why people like them were shifting to BJP.
“No one betrayed Kamal Nath. When Nath sought support from Chhindwara to become the Chief Minister in 2018, the people of Chhindwara made him win all the seven assembly constituencies in the district. After that Nath again sought support from Chhindwara to become the Chief Minister in 2023, the people there supported him and again made him win all the seven assembly seats in the district. Now, there is no election for Kamal Nath ji, he is not contesting the election, so where does the question of betraying Kamal Nath arise,” Jafar told ANI over phone.
“Last time in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, we gave a chance to Nakul Nath but he did not do any notable work during his tenure of five years. Nakul Nath did not maintain the relationship that Kamal Nath had built with the workers for the last 40 years, he did not connect with anyone, whether be it senior leaders or young leaders. So today the future of Chhindwara is not safe with Nakul Nath, that is why people like us are going towards BJP,” he added.
Chhindwara is considered a stronghold of Kamal Nath and during the previous Lok Sabha election, the Congress party managed to win the only seat Chhidndwara in the state.
The lone Congress MP in the state and Kamal Nath’s son, Nakul Nath is again contesting election from the seat while BJP has fielded Vivek Bunty Sahu from the seat.
The election will be held here in Chhindwara in the first phase on April 19 with five other parliamentary seats which include Sidhi, Shahdol, Jabalpur, Mandla and Balaghat in the state.
The Lok Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh is scheduled to be held in the first four phases of the total seven phases dated April 19, April 26, May 7, and May 13. (ANI)
