Buldhana (Maharashtra) [India], November 12 (ANI): Ahead of the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections, former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister and Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel on Tuesday said that the people of Maharashtra have not forgotten the way the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Mahayuti government have treated them.
“The people of Maharashtra have not forgotten the way the BJP and Mahayuti government have treated them. People will not forget the corruption issues in connection with the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj that fell. They broke Shiv Sena, NCP. People do not like this because Maharashtra has been a den of social reformers. People will not like actions that threaten democracy. People don’t like the way horse-trading is still going on. ED, CBI have been misused,” Baghel said.
Earlier today, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah along with other top leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Assam CM Hemant Biswa Sarma of polarising the society by spreading enmity and “communal venom.”
Ramesh, Congress General Secretary in-charge for Communications, said that they have no other agenda besides polarisation. The Election campaigning carried out by the BJP leaders in Jharkhand and Maharashtra shows that they are baffled and scared, he remarked.
“The Election campaigning of our non-biological PM, HM and others in BJP in Jharkhand and Maharashtra clearly show that they are baffled and scared. They have not been able to recover from the results of the 2024 elections. The only agenda of PM Modi, Amit Shah, Yogi Adityanath, and Assam CM is social polarisation. Massive polartisation. Spread enmity, create communal tension and spread communal venom. They have no agenda besides polarisation,” said Ramesh while speaking to ANI.
Meanwhile, in a fresh controversy ahead of the Maharashtra assembly elections, the Election Commission of India (ECI) checked Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray’s bag after his helicopter landed in the Yamatwal assembly constituency where he was to address an election rally.
Former Rajasthan Chief Minister and Congress leader Ashok Gehlot on Tuesday came in support of the former Maharashtra Chief Minister, saying that it was wrong to target a party leader. (ANI)
